SAI-HAL archers shine in State championship

SAI-HAL, Sunabeda emerged on top, bagging six out of 21 titles in the 19th Odisha State Archery Championship, which was held at Kandhamal Stadium, Phulbani from Sept 17-19, 2017. KISS claimed five titles, SAI Sundargarh secured four, Kandhamal captured two, while Triveni Archery Academy, Cuttack, Kalahandi and Keonjhar got one each.

Over 150 archers from 15 units participated in the mini, sub-junior, junior and senior groups of championship, which was organised by Kandhamal District Archery Association (KDAA), under the aegis of Odisha Archery Association (OAA). Competition was held in Indian, Recurve and Compound rounds.

Phulbani MLA Duguni Kanhar gave away the prizes at the closing function. Kandhamal Additional Collector P K Sahani, OAA secretary Sradhananda Das, Kandhamal District Athletic Association secretary Siba Prasad Tripathy and KDAA secretary Hrudaya Ranjan Behera were present on the occasion.

INDIAN ROUND: Mini/Sub-junior Boys:
1. Abhiram Paleya (Kandhamal), 2. Danab Pat Majhi (Kalahandi), 3. Siman Gadaba (Kandhamal). Junior/Senior Boys: 1. Jitrai Ho (SAI, Sundargarh), 2. Putkar Sinku (Triveni AA), 3. Simanchal Kadraka (KISS). Mini/Sub-junior Girls: 1. Jayalaxmi Mallick (KISS), 2. Namita Oram (SAI Sundargarh), 3. Achana Guia (Cuttack).

RECURVE: Mini/Sub-junior Boys: 1. Anil Huluka (SAI-HAL), 2. Kumar Ranjan Singh (KISS), 3. Babula Madkami (SAI-HAL). Junior/Senior Boys: 1. Sanjit Podiami (SAI-HAL), 2. Arjun Khara (Keonjhar), 3. Surya Paleya (Cuttack). Junior/Senior Girls: 1. Balhi Bansingh (KISS), 2. Chandamani Munda (KISS), 3. Salge Soren (SAI Sundargarh).

COMPOUND: Senior Boys: 1. Kishore Kumar Gond (SAI-HAL), 2. Kusha Nayak (SAI-HAL), 3. Dibya Ranjan Munda (SAI-HAL).
